In 2019, BIAXPLEN partnered with its customers, multinational companies and SIBUR’s R&D centres to develop new films for a number of consumer segments.

BIAXPLEN has acquired a 50% stake in the European BOPP film producer Manucor S.p.A.

R&D staff from Mars Russia visited SIBUR’s cluster in Tomsk, which is home to Tomskneftekhim, SIBUR’s R&D centre and BIAXPLEN T.  

BIAXPLEN, a subsidiary of SIBUR Holding, has closed the sale of its cast polypropylene film production facility in the Samara Region's Novokuybyshevsk.

The solution developed jointly by SIBUR's R&D Centre and BIAXPLEN to produce special chemicals known as masterbatches was named the winner in the Production and Technology category at ChemiCos Unique, an international award in the field of household chemicals.

In 2018, BIAXPLEN brought to market new film grades designed to meet the needs of a wide range of consumer segments.

BIAXPLEN has joined the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex), an independent organisation, signalling its commitment to responsible labour, health and safety, environmental, and business ethics practices as a reliable supplier.

BIAXPLEN's Tomsk site (BIAXPLEN T) has put into operation a 5 ktpa metallisation unit for the biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film. This is the only machine of its kind behind the Urals.

Sergey Stepanov, the branch's former Executive Director, will continue his work in SIBUR's standalone business unit in Tyumen.

The films were then tested by their key consumers, and, based on test results, were modified to feature better and longer lasting antifog properties, thus becoming an import substitution product for domestic clients. The offer will also be extended to BIAXPLEN’s international customers.
