Was born in Moscow in 1970. Dmitry has been leading SIBUR as CEO since 2006 and as Chairman of the Management Board of SIBUR Holding since 2018.

In 1994, he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) with a degree in International Economic Relations, and in 2001, he gained an MBA from IMD (International Institute for Management Development).

Before joining SIBUR in 2004 and being appointed CEO of the company in 2006, he held various positions at Trust and Investment Bank and the Treasury Department of Yukos Oil Company.

Over the recent few years, Dmitry has served various management roles and sat on boards of various major Russian oil and gas, construction, and transportation companies.

During his career span, Dmitry received a number of awards and commendations, such as the Order of Honour, the badge of honour of Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (its highest award), the Russian Government Award for the contribution to the development of the national framework for safe chemical management and the Order of Merit Decoration for Distinguished Service to the Tyumen Region.

Outside work Dmitry enjoys academic, sporting and social activities. He is a basketball lover and the founder of SIBUR’s corporate basketball league. Dmitry is chairman of the board of trustees at the University of Tyumen and member of boards of trustees at MGIMO University, the Russian Basketball Federation, Graduate School of Management of St Petersburg University, and Gubkin National University of Oil and Gas.

Kirill Shamalov was born in Leningrad in 1982. Since 2012, he has been Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at SIBUR in charge of the business administration function.

In 2004, Kirill graduated from St Petersburg State University with a degree in Law. He also completed the Executive Education programme at INSEAD, the European Institute of Business Administration. While studying at the university, worked as chief legal adviser on foreign trade at Gazprom.

After graduating, Kirill worked at Rosoboronexport’s regional department, focusing on military and technical cooperation with Western Europe. In 2005, served as a leading legal adviser at Gazprombank, providing legal support for a number of investment transactions. From 2005 to 2008, worked as expert in corporate governance of state-owned companies and policy drafting at the Department of Economics and Finance of the Russian Government's Executive Office. Has government awards.

In 2008, Kirill Shamalov was appointed Vice President at SIBUR, where he created a new federal and regional government relations function. He took part in a pilot project to transition municipal transport in one of Russian regions to natural gas motor fuel made of liquefied petroleum gas, and promoted systemic solutions to use polymer materials in road construction. 

Outside of work, Kirill is an amateur hockey player. He enjoys contemporary art and reading history books. He is fluent in German and English.

Mikhail Karisalov was born in 1973 in Leningrad. Since February 2018, he has been Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of SIBUR.

In 1998, Mikhail graduated from the Russian Presidential Academy of Public Administration, and in 2010, he received a degree in Chemical Technology of Natural Energy Carriers and Carbon Materials from the Tyumen State Oil and Gas University. Before joining SIBUR, he worked in the food industry in different positions, including as CEO.  

Mikhail became part of the SIBUR team in 2003. He rose through the ranks from Head of Procurement and Capital Construction to CEO of SiburTyumenGaz. He then went on to helm SIBUR's hydrocarbons business and to become member of the Management Board in 2007, a post he holds to this day.

With Mikhail’s leadership and participation, SIBUR implemented a number of investment projects to develop infrastructure for processing associated petroleum gas and transporting gas products. The result was the largest gas processing cluster in Russia, whose products are enabling the manufacture of technologically advanced materials with high added value.

Mikhail led and coordinated a number of projects to establish global polymer capacities. Thanks to their launch, Russia was able to significantly reduce imports and boost its export potential for cutting-edge materials, fostering the non-commodity dependent economy.

For his contribution to Russia’s economic and social development, Mikhail Karisalov received various awards and accolades, including Letters of Acknowledgement from the President of the Russian Federation and the Russian Ministry of Energy, along with the Russian Government’s Award in 2018 for creating Tobolsk the Spiritual Power of Russia cultural tourism cluster in the Tyumen Region.

Mikhail is married with five children. His hobbies include Russian history.

Alexander Petrov was born in Krymsk in 1981. He is in charge of SIBUR’s procurement, and its Plastics, Elastomers and Organic Synthesis Division and has served on the Management Board of SIBUR Holding and OOO SIBUR since 2016.

In 2003, Alexander graduated from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation with a degree in Finance and Credit, and in 2014, earned an Executive MBA from INSEAD. Prior to joining SIBUR, he worked in the Moscow office of PwC, where he progressed from an intern position to project manager, and in his third year of work was named the best employee of the Energy, Utilities and Mining Department.

In early 2006, Alexander joined SIBUR as Deputy Head of Economics at SiburTyumenGaz in Nizhnevartovsk. In this position, he was responsible for economic planning, labour and payroll. Subsequently, he also served as CFO of SiburTyumenGaz and then as Financial Director of the Hydrocarbons Division at SIBUR’s Corporate Centre. In 2012, he became Director for Financial Control and Reporting at SIBUR and in 2016 was put in charge of SIBUR’s finance and economics.

In his new role as CFO of SIBUR, he initiated the transformation of the Company’s finance function, facilitating the transition of all sites to the shared service centre to centralise and streamline most of standard economic planning activities. Alexander helped implement an ERP solution to harmonise the Group’s processes, and introduce performance contracts with performance criteria for other workstreams and investment ideas also subject to review.

“We should not focus on profitability alone. In capital-intensive industries, it is important to ensure an adequate return on investment, see the long-term perspective, and have a clear understanding of the competition,” says Alexander Petrov. “In this context, we can no longer think in terms of separate finance functions as today there are no clear-cut borders between finance and construction, production or marketing. It is vital to be part of the team, which is working together to achieve an ambitious goal – to implement a new project or develop an innovation.”

In 2019, following a significant optimisation of its debt portfolio, SIBUR received its first-ever investment grade rating on par with the sovereign one – the highest for Russian businesses.

In 2020, Alexander was appointed Head of the Plastics, Elastomers and Organic Synthesis Division, one of the two petrochemical segments of the Company, as part of a scheduled senior leadership rotation programme aimed at improving governance efficiency.

One of Alexander’s favourite pastimes is venture investment. “At some point, I realised this was my hobby. On the one hand, it helps expand my horizons, while on the other hand, I can get away from my routine work, immerse myself in something totally different and meet new people,” he says.

Before joining SIBUR, Fanli Zeng served as Vice President at Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation (SIPC).

He joined the Sinopec Group back in 1995 after graduation, starting as an engineer at the Planning & Development Department.

From February 2002 to September 2005, he was Deputy Head of the Project Cooperation Office of the Planning & Development Department of Sinopec, which he then headed from October 2005 to August 2008.

From September 2008 to June 2010, he served as Head of Foreign Cooperation Office.

In June 2016, Fanli Zeng was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Tiptop Oil and Gas US LLC, a U.S. branch of SIPC focusing on oil and gas exploration and production.

In 2020 he was appointed Management Board Member of SIBUR LLC.

Igor Klimov was born in Leningrad in 1969. He is currently Management Board member and Managing Director for Production Efficiency at SIBUR. 

In 1994, Igor graduated from Ustinov Baltic State Technical University with a mechanical engineering degree, and in 2005 received an MBA from Lomonosov Moscow State University Business School.

In 1997, Igor began his career with a ten-year stint at Heinz-Petrosoyuz, where he held various positions ranging from head of strategic development to branch director. Moving on from one major company to another, Igor started his path at SIBUR in 2007 as an advisor to Tomskneftekhim’s CEO, taking over the reins of the facility in 2008. 

At SIBUR, Igor was a driving force behind the health and safety management system, achieving zero workplace injuries at the Tomsk facility (the pilot site for the programme). After that, he headed the implementation of SIBUR’s production system, which standardised business processes and promoted harmonised holding-wide management practices, bringing about a 10% increase in the operational efficiency of the Company. In the course of that project, Igor gained a thorough understanding of SIBUR’s production capacities and, according to his own account, became much better at adapting and at implementing bottom-up (as opposed to top-down) change. Igor sees a good top manager as someone proactive, ready for change and able to spot opportunities in any problem.

In 2017, helmed the Company’s flagship project ZapSibNeftekhim and coordinated its transition from construction to the operating stage. In 2020, the facility was ramped up to stable production levels ahead of schedule, cementing SIBUR’s position as one of the most dynamically growing companies on the global petrochemical stage.

Igor is a two-time cavalier of the Order I class for Merit to the Chemical Industry.

Since childhood, Igor devoted a lot of time to basketball, playing point guard or shooting guard. Did these positions merely reflect or actually shape his proclivities? Igor cannot say for sure. However, one thing is certain: sports was where he first felt the satisfaction of coming up with a strategy, guiding the team, and seeing these efforts pay off in a win. “This is also probably where my desire to be the first comes from. To achieve the goal in everything I do, no matter the cost,” says Klimov. In the mid-1980s, he became Leningrad’s champion in youth basketball, but he had to stop competing in 1991 due to an injury.

One of Igor’s favourite hobbies is travelling. “Ask me what I’m doing for my vacation, and you can bet on it involving flying or otherwise moving to some faraway place.” Igor also loves to read – usually quality fiction or mind-expanding books. Top 3 on his must-read list are Screw It, Let’s Do It by Richard Branson, Technology of Life: Book for Heroes by Vladimir Tarasov, and Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

Sergey Komyshan was born in Moldova in 1972. On the Management Board of OOO SIBUR since 2010, he is in charge of the petrochemical business, sales and marketing.

In 1994, Sergey graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MGIMO) with a degree in International Economic Relations. From 2001 to 2002, he studied at INSEAD Business School on campuses in France and Singapore receiving an MBA degree, and completed a semester at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as part of an exchange programme. He maintains contact with his classmates and other fellow graduates of both schools, and helped develop and establish an executive business education programme together with INSEAD for SIBUR’s high potentials.

Upon graduating from MGIMO, Sergey held various roles in the investment banking sector, including MFK Bank, the London branch of JP Morgan, and management consultancy Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. Working at leading investment banks, Sergey, according to his own account, learned managing risks in highly uncertain environments and gained expertise in capital markets and financial instruments.

“Subsequently, this experience proved very useful at SIBUR, and was particularly helpful in arranging financing for major projects like Tobolsk-Polymer or RusVynil,” says Komyshan. “And management consulting gave me an understanding of how business problems are tackled at the executive level in six different industries. This experience remains invaluable given that since 2004 SIBUR has undergone several investment cycles and internal transformations.”

Sergey Komyshan joined SIBUR in 2004. As Director for Strategic Development, he contributed to shaping the Company’s petrochemical business strategy. “Many of the ideas included in the strategy laid the foundation for the Company’s growth,” believes Sergey. Of particular importance was establishing Capital Expenditures and Investment Projects as a strategic function and partnering with leading global players to implement a number of projects, such as the RusVinyl joint venture with Solvay.

At various times, Sergey Komyshan served as Deputy Head of SIBUR’s Development Division and headed the Basic Polymers Division and the Capital Expenditures and Investment Projects function.

Outside of work, Sergey Komyshan likes jogging, alpine skiing and cycling. He is also fond of long hikes in the mountains. “I love all kinds of outdoor activities that help boost my energy and keep me fit.” His other hobby is travelling around the world with his family. Sergey and his wife are raising a son and two daughters. In choosing travel destinations, Sergey opts for adventure tours and those with a cultural and educational component, be it exploring the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, hiking in Patagonia or visiting the pyramids of Mexico. Together with his son, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak (5,895 m above sea level). By enjoying the beauty of wildlife first-hand, children learn to respect nature and develop the right perception of environmental initiatives, which, Sergey believes, is extremely important.

Boris Lim was born in Moscow in 1969. He has served on OOO SIBUR’s Management Board since 2011 and is currently Managing Director for Engineering, Capital Expenditures and Investment Projects. He also oversees the operations of NIPIgaspererabotka as Chairman of its Board of Directors.

In 1992, Boris Lim graduated from the Economics Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Political Economics. From 1993 to 2001, he worked in South Korea, first as part of the international business of Hanwha Group, a Top 10 financial and industrial conglomerate in South Korea, and later as head of the representative office of the Russian airline East Line in Seoul.

“Although working in South Korea was a great experience, at some point I realised that I was doing the same thing every day, and I wanted and still had time to grow further,” says Boris Lim. In 2001, he took the opportunity to study at the University of North Carolina’s business school in the USA, where he received his MBA. Between his first and second year of study, Boris completed an internship at McKinsey, a leading international consulting firm, and in 2003 joined its Moscow office, where he was involved in operational efficiency improvement, strategy development and other projects of major Russian companies.

Boris joined SIBUR in January 2006 as Deputy CEO of SiburTyumenGaz and at the same time as Deputy Head of the Hydrocarbons Division of the Corporate Centre. From 2006 to 2008, he oversaw the development of the Company’s feedstock business segment, including projects to expand gas processing capacities in Western Siberia. From 2008 to 2010, he was CEO of SiburTyumenGaz. At the end of 2010, Boris was appointed Head of Capital Investments and Investment Projects at SIBUR, and in 2011 he was elected to the Company’s Management Board. While overseeing SIBUR’s capital investment projects, he also became CEO of ZapSibNeftekhim in 2011 and was in charge of preparations for the ZapSib-2 project. Following the final investment decision on ZapSib made in the autumn of 2014, Boris fully focused on his role as CEO of ZapSibNeftekhim, and until September 2016 he was the person in charge of this key investment project.

In September 2016, Boris was appointed CEO of NIPIgaspererabotka. In this capacity, he has been part of such landmark national gas projects as Gazprom’s Amur GPP and Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 and has been involved in reconstruction and construction of new capacities at Gazprom Neft’s Moscow and Omsk refineries. Under his leadership from 2016 to 2018, NIPIgaspererabotka leapfrogged to become Russia’s largest engineering centre in the gas processing industry. In January 2019, Boris moved back to OOO SIBUR as Management Board member and Managing Director for Engineering, Capital Expenditures and Investment Projects, and was also appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of NIPIgaspererabotka. Boris Lim’s key focus is on building the best management and technical team both for SIBUR’s capital investment block and NIPIgaspererabotka. He values his subordinates’ ability to make independent decisions along with their managerial intuition, skills to motivate teams, and structured thinking.

Boris spends his rare time off work with his family. His preferred leisure activities include going to a gym, reading a good book or watching a movie.

Pavel Lyakhovich was born in Leningrad in 1970. A Management Board member since 2014, he serves as Head of SIBUR’s Basic Polymers Division and oversees implementation of a new operating model.

In 1993, he graduated with honours from the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute with degrees in Marine Machinery and Mechanisms, and in Marketing. Prior to joining SIBUR, Pavel headed a large trading company and managed a scientific production association both focusing on petrochemical products. Pavel believes that this experience gave him valuable industry insights on a wide range of topics from organising research work to understanding the mechanics of chemical markets. Pavel joined SIBUR in 2011.

In 2012, he became Head of Sales and Marketing at SIBUR’s Plastics and Organic Synthesis Division and, in 2014, took over this division, playing the key role in developing this segment of the Company's business. In this role, he was responsible for development projects, M&As, and non-core asset divestiture, i.e. “everything that makes SIBUR a more dynamic, advanced company with an ever-improving product portfolio” as he calls it.

During business restructuring, Pavel became responsible first for the elastomers segment (in 2016) and then for the production support function (in 2018). Among other projects, he was involved in launching Russia’s first and only and Europe’s largest DOTP facility in Perm, and in building Jamnagar-based butyl rubber plant licensed by SIBUR together with India’s Reliance that has captured 25% of the global butyl rubber market.

The qualities Pavel appreciates in others include intellectual curiosity, tolerance, ability to value partnership, and determination. His own hobbies are reflective of the same values – Pavel is a regular theatre-goer, traveller and book lover. In addition, Pavel plays football, enjoys alpine skiing and jogging. He has four children.

Oleg Makarov was born in Degtyarsk in 1969. In 2013, he joined the Management Board and in 2016 became Executive Director of OOO SIBUR. Oleg is responsible for the procurement of strategic feedstock, sales of hydrocarbons, and logistics and supply chain management. He is also in charge of SIBUR’s exports.

In 1994, he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MGIMO) with a degree in International Economic Relations with foreign language skills. He maintains contact with his MGIMO class and values friendship with many of his fellow graduates. Subsequently, he received a Marketing MBA degree from London Metropolitan University.

Early in his career, Oleg worked in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on sales development. Later he served as national sales director (Russia and CIS) at ICN Pharmaceuticals, one of the transnational giants of the pharmaceutical industry at the time. “It was an invaluable experience in terms of gaining insight into the best global practices and learning to conform to them. It also helped build my work structuring skills,” says Makarov. Following the collapse of ICN, he worked at GUTA Group, heading the analytical marketing department and preparing landmark M&A transactions.

He joined SIBUR in early 2004 as Marketing and Sales Director and contributed to drafting the Company’s strategic development programmes. In the course of his career in the Company, he was involved in procurement, production support, and logistics management. Since 2009, he has been in charge of exports.

“The focus was on building a robust sales system, streamlining processes, and strengthening the Company’s positions in European markets. As recently as ten years ago, SIBUR did not conduct any independent export activities. Whereas today, exports account for about half of the Company’s sales,” says Makarov. This has been accompanied by a major effort to rebuild the logistics processes, which was primarily aimed at ensuring maximum safety during product transportation and increased efficiency.

From 2013 to 2018, Oleg supervised the introduction of SAP at SIBUR, accomplishing one of the world’s highest levels of SAP integration in the production and related IT systems. By this indicator, SIBUR ranked second in the world and first in Europe among companies completing this software integration in 2018. “I have never been IT savvy, but have always realised the importance of such technologies for the Company’s performance,” says Makarov. “Apart from the practical benefits, SAP integration is a must for making it to the top. Availability of SAP is a global standard, while its absence offsets other market achievements.”

Outside of work, Oleg is a big theatre enthusiast, he enjoys travelling thus satisfying his interest in applied history, and broadening his horizons. He claims that travelling has helped him rediscover his homeland. He is also interested in psychology and likes to “explore himself in terms of attitudes towards others.”

Marina Medvedeva was born in Moscow in 1971. As a member of OOO SIBUR’s Management Board since 2016, she oversees corporate governance and development of business process management and corporate services.

A graduate of the College of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she has worked in oil companies since 1992. In 2000, she graduated with honours from the Moscow Academy of Economics and Law with a degree in Law. While studying at the Academy, she was already taking part in project structuring work under production sharing agreements.

Since 2003, Marina has held senior management positions in foreign and Russian oil companies, including Quest Petroleum (UK), ARCO Overseas Petroleum Inc., and TNK-BP Management, where she supervised mergers and, later, corporate governance development. She describes that experience as instrumental in helping her gain detailed knowledge of the industry, improve stress resistance, and acquire skills in building project teams. “But I was interested in further professional growth, new challenges and cultural environments,” says Marina.

In 2008, upon completing MGIMO University’s International Business in the Oil and Gas Sector programme, as well as several programmes at the INSEAD business school, Marina was appointed Shared Services and Governing Bodies Director at OOO SIBUR. Later, she became the Company's Managing Director. Since joining SIBUR in 2008, the scope of her responsibilities has increased to include a variety of areas and functions.

At SIBUR, Marina initiated restructuring of shared corporate services and governing bodies and proposed new approaches to the respective activities. “The main challenge was to streamline administrative processes and create a dynamic and flexible culture based on collaboration. The key objective was to make all internal services convenient and transparent for the customer – the Company’s employees,” commented Medvedeva.

Under her watch, the workflow and protocol service processes were optimised, shared services (not typical BSC services) were centralised based on the SIBUR Shared Services platform, functional structure of overseen units was created across the Company’s footprint, and the transformation and development of business process management was launched. In 2012, Marina was among the winners of the 7th Director of the Year National Award in the Corporate Governance / Corporate Secretary category. The Award is sponsored by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in partnership with PwC. In 2013, she became the winner of the Award. Still, these achievements are not a reason to stop seeking even more efficient solutions, Marina believes.

Marina has been increasingly participating in independent professional groups and forums to share her experience with colleagues across the industry. “Today, SIBUR is a recognised industry leader both in terms of business performance and when it comes to introducing best practices in its work,” says Medvedeva. She represents the Company in the Independent Directors Association, is a member of the National Association of Corporate Secretaries and is an IoD-certified independent director.

Outside work, Marina usually sets aside time for sports (tennis, alpine skiing) and cultural activities. As a child, she spent a lot of time practising to become a synchronised swimmer. “It’s a unique sport that teaches discipline, individual and team work, as well as the ability to switch from one routine to another.” Above all, Marina values spending time with her family.

Vasily Nomokonov was born in Dubna in 1972. He has been SIBUR’s Executive Director since 2016 and is in charge of IT, digitalisation, data management, corporate governance and business processes.

In 1995, he graduated from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute with a degree in Nuclear Physics and then worked as a researcher at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva. In 1999, Vasily received a PhD in Physics and Mathematics. 

After ending his research career, Vasily joined McKinsey before leaving it in 2005 to become part of SIBUR and lead its Production Optimisation Centre.

Vasily admits that exact sciences have taught him to make decisions based on data, while business consulting has helped to develop a structured approach to problem solving, in addition to broadening his management skills and knowledge.

Vasily Nomokonov has served in various roles during his time at SIBUR focusing on procurement optimisation, OHS supervision, HR management, and R&D. He was one of the masterminds behind SIBUR’s Production System and stood at the forefront of the Company’s digitalisation programme and process approach introduction. In 2012, Vasily became a member of SIBUR’s Management Board.

Outside of work, Vasily enjoys educational tourism and active leisure, and believes that a diverse and ever changing set of tasks is the best way to keep fit both physically and intellectually. The things he embarked on later in life include mastering his French, starting triathlon and alpine skiing, and getting into motorcycling. Vasily was granted first-class sportsman rank in two disciplines: for achieving the qualifying 100 m freestyle swimming standard at the age of 17, and for completing the Olympic distance triathlon at the age of 47.

Alexander Petrov was born in Krymsk in 1981. He is in charge of SIBUR’s procurement, and its Plastics, Elastomers and Organic Synthesis Division and has served on the Management Board of SIBUR Holding and OOO SIBUR since 2016.

In 2003, Alexander graduated from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation with a degree in Finance and Credit, and in 2014, earned an Executive MBA from INSEAD. Prior to joining SIBUR, he worked in the Moscow office of PwC, where he progressed from an intern position to project manager, and in his third year of work was named the best employee of the Energy, Utilities and Mining Department.

In early 2006, Alexander joined SIBUR as Deputy Head of Economics at SiburTyumenGaz in Nizhnevartovsk. In this position, he was responsible for economic planning, labour and payroll. Subsequently, he also served as CFO of SiburTyumenGaz and then as Financial Director of the Hydrocarbons Division at SIBUR’s Corporate Centre. In 2012, he became Director for Financial Control and Reporting at SIBUR and in 2016 was put in charge of SIBUR’s finance and economics.

In his new role as CFO of SIBUR, he initiated the transformation of the Company’s finance function, facilitating the transition of all sites to the shared service centre to centralise and streamline most of standard economic planning activities. Alexander helped implement an ERP solution to harmonise the Group’s processes, and introduce performance contracts with performance criteria for other workstreams and investment ideas also subject to review.

“We should not focus on profitability alone. In capital-intensive industries, it is important to ensure an adequate return on investment, see the long-term perspective, and have a clear understanding of the competition,” says Alexander Petrov. “In this context, we can no longer think in terms of separate finance functions as today there are no clear-cut borders between finance and construction, production or marketing. It is vital to be part of the team, which is working together to achieve an ambitious goal – to implement a new project or develop an innovation.”

In 2019, following a significant optimisation of its debt portfolio, SIBUR received its first-ever investment grade rating on par with the sovereign one – the highest for Russian businesses.

In 2020, Alexander was appointed Head of the Plastics, Elastomers and Organic Synthesis Division, one of the two petrochemical segments of the Company, as part of a scheduled senior leadership rotation programme aimed at improving governance efficiency.

One of Alexander’s favourite pastimes is venture investment. “At some point, I realised this was my hobby. On the one hand, it helps expand my horizons, while on the other hand, I can get away from my routine work, immerse myself in something totally different and meet new people,” he says. 

Vladimir Razumov was born in 1944 in the Saratov Region and has been with SIBUR since 1999. He has been Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of SIBUR Holding since 2016 and a member of the Board of Directors of SIBUR Holding since 2013. He is also a member of the Management Board of OOO SIBUR.

In 1967, Vladimir graduated from the Voronezh Technological Institute with a degree in Chemical Machinery and Equipment, in 1980 – from the Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics with a degree in Industrial Procurement Planning, and in 1989 – from the Academy of National Economy under the USSR Council of Ministers with a degree in Economics and Management of the National Economy.

Vladimir began his career as a mechanic at the Voronezh Synthetic Rubber Plant, where he subsequently held various positions as a design engineer, shop manager, and deputy CEO after graduation. Later on, he was CEO of the Volga Synthetic Rubber Plant, and Head of the Main Committee and Deputy Minister of the USSR Ministry of the Chemical and Oil Processing Industry.

Together with a group of fellows, Vladimir Razumov stood at the origins of SUBUR. “The idea of building a petrochemical facility in Western Siberia goes back to the Soviet era, but then the project never got a green light. Later on, it was revisited and revised by SIBUR, with a focus on the same core goals: launching polymer production capacities for materials enjoying strong market demand, and pursuing sustainable and responsible use of hydrocarbon resources,” says Vladimir.

He was an active contributor to many of the Company’s projects, including the development of a production cluster in Tobolsk, the launch of TPE-50 facility at Voronezhsintezkauchuk, and the programme for social development of Tobolsk.

During his career, he received multiple accolades, including the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, Medal of the Order of Service to the Motherland of the 2nd Class, title of the Merited Chemist of the Russian Federation, title of the Laureate of the Russian Government Award in Science and Technology, and badge of the Honoured Oil and Gas Industry Worker of the Tyumen Region.

Outside of work, Vladimir enjoys sports and social activities. As a long-term basketball player and lover of the game, which is his favourite, he is now a member of the Council of the VTB United League. Over the recent few years, he has also been actively involved in operations of the Russian Chemists Union as its Vice President.
